Easter Island
Easter Island, a Polynesian Island in the Pacific Ocean directly west of Chile, was home to the Rapanui people. The island is most famous for its monumental statues, called moai, of which there are 887 still surviving. Scientists and researchers still question how these huge statues were moved to various locations throughout the island.
