Atlantis

Atlantis, first written about by the philosopher, Plato, is a legendary island that might have been home to a highly advanced civilization and would have existed around 11,000 years ago. According to Plato, the civilization there was a very advanced naval power that conquered many parts of Africa and Western Europe. However, Plato wrote that Atlantis sank into the ocean "in a single day and night of misfortune" after an unsuccessful attempt to invade Athens, Greece.
